Trampolining is a fun and exciting activity for children, and they never get tired of it. Trampoline is good for children’s health as it can strengthen their bones, joints, and muscles and develop their balance, coordination, and spatial orientation. Children love to jump, and kids trampolines help their bodies to release endorphins and make them feel happier. Having a trampoline at home makes kids play outside and get exposed to the sunshine. Sunlight raises the level of vitamin D in children’s bodies and strengthens the bones. Trampolining keeps them fit because 10 minutes of jumping equals 30 minutes of running.

How to choose a trampoline

The trampoline size depends on the size of the yard. It is good to select a model after knowing who would use it. Knowing the maximum user weight helps buy the best one that can withstand the weight. There are two types of trampolines: spring-based trampolines and springless.

Springless trampolines eliminate the impact areas responsible for 90% of the injuries that can happen while bouncing on a trampoline. They have flexible composite rods placed beneath the jumping surface to eliminate injuries caused while jumping. Spring-based trampolines have springs that can pinch or injure children. The frame in these trampolines can injure the jumpers. Choosing between a springless and spring-based trampoline depends upon personal preference and priorities. However, a spring free model is safer than a spring-based trampoline.

Trampoline shapes

Round trampolines: Round trampolines come in various sizes ranging from 8 feet to 16 feet in diameter. Primarily they are used for recreational purposes and are safety net enclosure friendly. They are safe because they offer incredible force distribution. They are lightweight, portable and fit easily in any garden.

Rectangular trampolines: The rectangular trampolines are compact and location-friendly than the other types. They can be placed in narrower yards and patios and fit into tight corners and spaces. They offer a higher bounce than the round trampolines.

Square trampolines: The square shape is easy to place in the yard without wasting any place. A square trampoline provides more jump than a round one but less than a rectangular trampoline. It offers more jump space than the round trampoline.

Mini trampoline: Mini trampolines are compact and easily placed inside the house. A 30 minute jumping on the mini-trampoline equals 30 minutes jogging on a flat surface outside the house. It helps children burn the excess energy without going out.

Safe location for the trampoline

The section of the yard chosen for the trampoline should be free of slices, branches, fences, and debris. The ground should be flat and even and have a minimum height clearance of 6 metres from the ground. The trampoline should be stable so that it doesn’t tip over when children bounce on it vigorously. Though trampolines have padding and safety nets, they must be placed at least 1.5 metres from hard objects like walls and fences.

Benefits of trampolining

It is an effective and efficient form of exercise for kids. Jumping on the trampoline strengthens the bones and reinforces the joints. It also tones and tightens the muscles.
